Well the nicheMonkey thinks you SHOULD care, because adsense is basically free money for anyone who can push a couple of buttons. Here’s the nicheMonkey’s definition of adsense.
The mighty Google (although not, of course, as mighty as the nicheMonkey) currently dominates webspace for searches of all zoological and botanical and even mineral types. The mighty Google is slipping in this position, but the nicheMonkey still confidently predicts that they shall dominate the web search arena for years to come. Companies of all shapes and sizes want to advertise on the mighty Google, because it is so mighty. The mighty Google becomes the shitey Google, and tells said advertisers ’sure, you can advertise on us, but you have to pay us every time someone clicks on your ad. Just a few cents, or a dime or two’. The advertisers, being halfwits, and having nothing better to do with the bosses money say ‘Ok’.
The mighty Google then pulls a fast one, slapping the said advertiser’s little text ad up not only on the mighty Google home page itself, but on something called the ‘content network’. The advertiser gets charged a HUGE fee at the end of the month, and the mighty Google passes 40% or so on to the websites that comprise the ‘content network’.
In other words, what the nicheMonkey is saying is the mighty Google finds advertisers, you let them stick an ad on your site, and once a month the mighty google send you a big fat check. Yummy.
